Ofcom today published a statement setting out the details of future spectrum access for the programme-making and special events (PMSE) sector. The statement provides clarity to PMSE users as to what spectrum will be available for their future use and with what technical conditions. It also gives details on greater security of tenure for PMSE users as well as the introduction of pricing for their use of spectrum.

Ofcom has today published a consultation on making changes to the Code of Practice that the Digital Terrestrial TV multiplex operators have to comply with when making changes to their transmitter networks. These changes are to take into account the work expected to result from the clearance of channels 61 and 62, which will form part of the Digital Dividend.

Ofcom today published a statement setting out how Government funding will be made available to the Programme Making and Special Events (PMSE) sector to support its migration from channel 69 to channel 38. This follows the Government’s decision last week on the level and nature of this funding, which will contribute to the cost of modifying or purchasing equipment.

Ofcom has today published a statement setting out its policy on making Wireless Telegraphy licence information available to the public. This is to comply with legal requirements under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (“EIR”), requiring public organisations to progressively make environmental information available to the public by electronic means.

Ofcom today published a consultation on the regulations it has drafted to modify licence exemption rules for a range of wireless devices in the UK.
